The Iconic Reef Guardians program, created through NOAA and Mission: Iconic Reefs, empowers divers and snorkelers to become active ocean stewards through guided reef experiences and citizen science.

During our Coral Health Experience, participants learn how to identify signs of coral stress, bleaching, disease, and resilience while exploring Florida Keys reefs alongside trained professionals. Guests collect real-world observations that contribute to ongoing reef monitoring and restoration efforts in the sanctuary.

This is more than a dive trip, it’s an opportunity to slow down, truly observe the reef, and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and recovery efforts shaping our oceans today.

Why It Matters

Florida’s coral reefs have faced major declines from warming oceans, disease, pollution, and other environmental stressors. Mission: Iconic Reefs is one of the largest reef restoration efforts ever attempted, working to restore ecologically important reef sites throughout the Florida Keys.
